Epic Land Solutions, Inc. (“EPIC”) is searching for people with Oregon and/or Washington right of way experience to join its Portland/Tigard team. With several offices in the western United States, EPIC is a consulting firm whose purpose is to acquire real property interests on behalf of public agencies to achieve the best outcome for communities and owners/dwellers.

Oregon and/or Washington Real Estate license preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide project support activities: contact property owners to arrange for inspection of affected properties, negotiate acquisition of easements and fee interest of real property or property rights, and inform property owners of their rights, applicable laws and regulations.
  • Understand, produce and maintain correspondence records, various agreements, and other documents as requested.
  • Review legal documents, maps, and plans with a basic understanding of content.
  • Bring organization and attention to detail when scheduling, coordinating and managing projects.
  • Participate in meetings with stakeholders, the public, and clients and coordinate with applicable federal, state and local agencies.
  • Provide estimates of value.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Superior English verbal and written skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Adobe, Outlook and Excel. SharePoint experience highly desirable.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Must have interpersonal skills required to work within a team and be self-directed.
  • Minimum two years completed college work or industry experience equivalent.
  • Must be self-disciplined and motivated to perform tasks independently.
  • Previous right of way experience highly desirable.

Our successful agents have training in one or more of the disciplines below:

  • Real property transactions
  • Title search – familiarity with the process of researching, ordering and reviewing title reports and appraisals
  • Contracts
  • Paralegal certification or work experience equivalent

Epic Land Solutions, Inc. is a multifaceted real property/right of way consulting firm, whose purpose is to acquire and manage real property interests needed by clients to build and improve existing facilities. Epic provides a complete spectrum of right of way services, including relocation, real estate appraisal, acquisition, and property management to public agencies and the private market.

We have immediate openings for temporary, part-time Relocation Agents in Portland. The assignment is expected to last eighteen months to two years, though there is no guarantee and nothing contractual implied as to the length of time for the project. 

Overview

Under the supervision of a Project Manager, the Relocation Agent will conduct occupancy interviews with tenants residing in public housing who need to be moved temporarily due to building renovation.  The relocation agent will work with tenants to determine individual need/circumstances, monitor moves and coordinate with vendors. Tenants will return to their residence or relocate to a new home.

The position will be 10-40 hours a week depending on project phase and will require some weekend and evening work.   Most hours will be spent in the field working with tenants.  There will be office time to record notes and maintain files

Strict COVID protocols are in place and must be followed at all Epic and project locations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Conduct occupancy interviews with tenants: interview clients in their residences to establish relocation needs and special requirements.
  • Provide easy- to-understand explanations about the relocation program.
  • Working side by side with tenant, determine what benefits they may claim.
  • Provide and explain required paperwork, communicate key timelines and processes.
  • Understand each client’s unique circumstances while following the public agency objectives, making every effort to minimize hardship.
  • Work with movers
  • Coordinate with vendors
  • Maintain contact with tenants

Who Should Apply

Candidates best suited to this position enjoy working with people, get satisfaction from helping those with special needs, and have a positive attitude in the face of changing circumstances.  Sociology, Psychology and Urban Planning students are likely candidates for this job, as well as anyone who works with the public. 

Candidates with relocation assistance experience, HUD-funded project knowledge, or experience working with housing authorities, or knowledge of the Uniform Relocation Act, are encouraged to apply.
