EPIC client, City of Hillsboro, Wins APWA-Oregon Chapter Project of the Year for NE Jackson School Road Improvement Project!

EPIC congratulates our colleagues at the City of Hillsboro and Harper Houf Peterson Righellis Inc. (HHPR) for being honored with the APWA Oregon Chapter’s 2022 Project of the Year Award in the Transportation Category for projects valued between $5 million to less than $25 million. NE Jackson School Road is a critical north-south link between the renewed Downtown Hillsboro district and Highway 26. This Design-Bid-Build project constructed storm sewer improvements, a multi-use path, one roundabout, culvert crossings, a signal modification, and pedestrian signals across 1.6 miles of NE Jackson School Road between NE Grant Street and NW Evergreen Road.

As the subconsultant to the design engineer, HHPR, EPIC delivered comprehensive right of way services to obtain rights to over 100 property interests, including fee acquisitions, permanent easements, temporary construction easements, and construction access agreements. EPIC staff facilitated community open houses, provided right of way cost estimates, appraisals and reviews, mitigated encroachments, performed acquisition negotiations, escrow coordination, closing services, and construction support. Kudos to this team!

The APWA Project of the Year award recognizes excellence, innovation, and cooperation with regard to management and administration of public works projects. Projects are judged on their ability to increase quality of life, solve a community problem, reduce government costs, and increase public services.

The award was accepted in October 2022 by members of the project team during a ceremony held in Pendleton, Oregon.
